My past life as a communications professional informs my work in many ways. I have over 10 years of experience in the communications field. I’ve crafted campaigns and strategies for non-profit organizations, government agencies, musicians, restaurants, libraries and more. When I went back to school for my masters I became enamored with preserving history and using the value held within historical texts to inform current conversations.
We’ve all heard the phrase “the past defines the present”. When I graduated with my masters degree in Library and Information Science in 2018, I knew that I wanted to be a part of that process… “defining the present”.
In my current position, I have further expanded my perspective on the archivist profession and I am thinking critically about the culture of information generation and preservation within organizations and amongst employees.
Enhancing the understanding of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s historical role in the fight for civil rights, social justice and criminal justice through the cultivation and stewardship of its rich digital resources for historians, litigators and researchers as well as the Fund’s staff and alumni.
Provides communications and grassroots marketing outreach support for the library’s early literacy efforts and specifically the library’s early literacy campaign, Sing Talk & Read (DC STAR)
Assisted full-time staff with the planning, promotion, execution and evaluation of programs, events and workshops. Represented DCPL as a participant in outreach and community engagement initiatives. Assisted patrons with any and all library related requests, including reader’s advisory, information guidance, and collections. Maintain collections, process customer holds and new books.
Founded in 1979, the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (ART) is a not-for-profit organization representing a diverse group of more than 400 archivists, librarians and records managers in New York metropolitan area. It is one of the largest local organizations of its kind in the United States with members representing more than 160 repositories.
